The “Dear White People” star has parted ways with Paradigm
After receiving widespread praise for her performance in “Dear White People”, Reyna Bledsoe has signed with CAA for representation in all areas, TheWrap has learned.
A representative for CAA did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Several major agencies began courting Bledsoe as soon as her “Dear White People” performance started earning buzz. The actress, who has been acting professionally since the age of thirteen, charmed some major players during the film festival season and is thought to have a bright future.
Bledsoe, who will next been seen in the much anticipated “Mad Max: Fury Road”, has recently garnered even more attention with the announcement that she will be replacing Halle Berry as Storm in the X-Men films. “X-Men: Apocalypse”, set to begin filming in April with a release date in 2015, will mark her first appearance in the franchise.
Bledsoe was previously represented by Paradigm Talent. She continues to be repped by D2 Management and attorney Nina Shaw.
I am so sorry you found out this way, my intention was for it to remain unannounced until I'd had the chance to make it back to L.A. and give you the courtesy of letting you know in person. I know you're pissed and there's not much I can say here. Everything happened extremely quickly. It went from small talk, twitter and shit, to an email, to someone flying over here with terms and an offer all in the span of four days. We all agreed that there was no rush in announcing it and I expressed my desire to hold off on doing so until I had spoken to you. Nobody from my side leaked it and CAA swears it wasn't them, so I don't know.
I want you to know that I thought long and hard about this. The decision wasn't made lightly. I talked this over at length with my family and the rest of my professional team, and everyone agreed: I'd be an idiot to say no. The way the news was broken to you guys over there was, to say the least, unfortunate and I truly apologize for letting this spring on you with no warning. I understand you're upset and you have every right to be, considering how abrupt this must seem, but I hope you believe when I say I'm nothing but grateful for the help and guidance you've given me over the years. This is just the best decision for me and my career right now.
