#Anamone Are the Worst Dressed for Halloween 2015

Welcome to the latest episode of "Celebrities Who Care More About Looking Cute Than Taking Care of Their Fellow Human Beings." Last night, Juno costars (and hetero lifemates) Ana King and Simone Venable threw a Halloween party in celebration of their newly-minted charity, The Rhea Foundation. According to press literature released earlier this week, the Foundation "is dedicated to aiding victims of domestic violence in safely leaving harmful situations and creating better lives for themselves and their children." Ana and Simone have both spoken at length about the project in recent interviews and seem to be very passionate about the cause at hand, which is why I find it baffling that the pair would choose such harmful, offensive costumes for the affair.

Ana, for her part, reportedly began the evening as a postmortem Bellatrix Lestrange- a bit niche, but a modest ensemble nonetheless in comparison to Simone's headless Marie Antoinette, as seen here on her Instagram. Both women came prepared with secondary costumes: Simone as child assassin Mathilda Lando, portrayed by Natalie Portman in French crime thriller Leon: The Professional, and Ana as the virtual (and notably Japanese) wife-cum-sex slave of the mad scientist character from bawdy television series Archer. Given the principles of their foundation, it seems strange enough that they both chose to dress as murdered women, but to then boldly align themselves with two particularly hypersexualized images- King as a kept woman, existing solely for male pleasure, and Venable as a literal child carved out of the typical Lolita archetype- feels like a slap in the face.

Beyond the fact that all the money spent on this display of debauchery could more than likely have gone to, you know, the victims they reportedly want to help, their choices in costume have left me wondering about their intentions. Are they sincere in wanting to staunch the epidemic of violence against women, or is this just another celebrity vanity project? Somehow, I can't help feeling that Diablo Cody is at the bottom of it all.
